Job Stories From Panhandle, TX
Uncomfortable Rooms Fixed in Dumas, TX

The Marneys were experiencing some temperature issues and large amounts of dust in their house. The cause of these problems were discovered during a home energy evaluation. The uneven temperatures from room to room were caused by inadequate insulation, as were the high electricity bills. The dustiness was due to no sealing and a skylight improperly installed. The skylight had no insulation and no air sealing done. This allowed dust and unwanted air in and the wanted air out, and created annoying wind noise.

It was quickly established that to fix the uneven room temperatures Dr. Energy Saver Top of Texas would go ahead and air seal with ZypFoam and insulate with TruSoft cellulose blown-in insulation. We insulated to the Energy Star recommended level of R60. To fix the skylight, we applied SliverGlo foam board and two part closed cell spray foam. Air was being lost through the can lights so we installed Titeshell can light covers in the attic.  To finish up the job we contracted Winkleman Heating & Air to install an energy-efficient HVAC system.

After Dr. Energy Saver finished the install, a dust storm hit the panhandle. We got a call from Mrs. Marney and she told us that there was barely any dust in the house. She was blown away by the lack of dusting she had to do. The Marney's also told us that their electric bill was lower than last year's bill and the kW h had actually been cut in half. Their rooms are more comfortable and the skylight is letting only in light.
